Is the CSP Residential Camp just for girls? Yes. However, CSP may expand in future years to include a boys' week based on demand.
Can students bring extra snacks and drinks? Yes. However, we request that any snacks or drinks brought to camp be healthy choices. A major emphasis of the week is proper nutrition, and students should try to avoid unhealthy snacks.
What type of evaluation will students receive?
The evaluations will be done in three forms:
a. Video analysis: During the course of the week, each age group will be videotaped in various technical and tactical situations. There will be narrative addressing all appropriate coaching points.
b. Individual meetings: Each player will get constant feedback on the field during the week. Before the player leaves, she will have a 1 on 1 meeting with their coach to review the week and set goals for the upcoming year.
c. Written evaluation: Each player will receive a narrative on her strengths and weaknesses in all aspects of the position: physical, technical, tactical, and psychological.
How old do the students need to be? The camp is designed for players, with a minimum age of 11.
Do students need to bring a ball? Each player should bring their own ball to every training session. We will have additional balls as different topics require more.
Where will camp check-in be held? Camp check-in will be held at Latane’ Dormitories.
Where do I pick up my daughter at the end of the week? Camp check-out will be at Latane’ Dormitories.
How can I contact my daughter at camp? Yes, cell phones will be allowed to come to camp with the campers. If your daughter does not have a mobile phone, call, 804-833-2092. Try to use this line as an Emergency Contact line only.
Can my child have her car at camp?Yes, she may drive herself to camp, but we will require that the keys be turned into the Director until the end of camp.
How long is the camp? The camp is 6 days long.
How will the camp be run in the event of inclement weather? In the event of inclement weather, we have several options for the girls. The school has a gymnasium which can be used for training and there are numerous classrooms to have tactical lessons, mental training, and film analysis. Please understand, however, all efforts will be made to continue training outside and that we would only exercise our indoor plans in the event of lightning, extreme heat, or other dangerous situations.
Can parents watch camp sessions? Parents are welcome to watch their children at camp. For safety reasons, we ask that parents let the Director know who they are when they arrive at the camp facility. We also do not allow video taping of our training sessions.
What is the student to staff ratio? The maximum it will ever be is 12 to 1. However, it is closer to 6 to 1 with the college staff coaches who are hired to assist.
How do students apply? All registration is done online at www.cspsoccer.net . You will receive a “Registration Packet” shortly after you register. It will contain roommate request forms, directions, maps, medical release forms, and an acceptance letter.
Is there a registration deadline? We have not set a deadline for registration; however, due to the limited number of spaces available, you are encouraged to register as early as possible. We will continue to accept applications until all camps are full.
When is the balance due? All balances are due in full by July 1st. If you are applying after July 1st, you must send the full tuition with your application.
What happens if a family wants to withdraw from the camp after the fees have been paid? If we are contacted 30 days prior to the start of camp there will be no refund, however, if the family wants to sell their child’s spot at camp to another player they may receive money back from the added family. If the family needs to withdraw their player more than 30 days prior to the start of camp then a refund will be given.
Can a family pay for the whole camp in one lump sum? Yes, if you prefer to pay for the camp in one lump sum then once you have registered online at www.cspsoccer.net , then you can choose to pay the full amount at that time. You can always go back to the CSP website and click “Your File” and log back into your account and make payments as you would like.
What if a student has to arrive late or leave early? This is something that is never ideal, but acceptable. From the minute students arrive, to the time they check out, they will be covering large amounts of information designed to help them succeed. There will be no refunds, nor will tuition be pro-rated, for these situations.
Can students leave during camp? Attending this camp is a significant time and financial commitment. Therefore, if a player has a reason to leave during the week, such as a game, we would certainly honor that commitment. If it is absolutely necessary for a player to leave, please be aware that students will only be able to leave with a properly identified parent or guardian, and this request must be noted in writing at registration. Students must check-out with a camp staff member prior to departure and check-in upon arrival back on campus.
How are the students supervised on and off the fields? Overnight? Each team will have a female counselor to manage their needs. Each dorm building will have at least 2 additional women for the girls to contact with any needs. Overnight security is a priority and each building will be locked with security alarms set at 11:00pm nightly. None of the girls will have knowledge of the security code and will understand that leaving the dorm building will result in the alarm going off and the police being called.
Does CSP have any camps or clinics outside the summer months? Yes. Please contact Steve Lovgren directly if you would like to set up team, group, or individual training.
Do the goalkeepers play any games? During the week there will be functional small sided training games and we will also affiliate with local club teams when possible, so that students get the most out of their camp experience.
How many students stay in each room? There will be 2 students per room. There are no other alternatives because of the design of the room.
Are the rooms air-conditioned? Yes, since St. Margaret’s School is an all girls boarding school the dorms are set up to specifically accommodate females. Each room not only has air conditioning but also has access to clean and convenient bathroom facilities.
Do students need a medical form? Yes. Each student must have a completed medical release form signed by a parent to be able to participate at camp. A CSP Medical Release form will arrive with your registration packet after you apply, or it can be downloaded and printed offline with the camp application.
What medical facilities will be provided to handle injuries and illnesses? Within the dorm facilities we will provide an infirmary room staffed by a professional full time Registered Nurse (RN). The nurse will be on call and on camp 24 hours a day for the week of camp and is staffed by Commonwealth Soccer Programs. In addition, there will be a Certified Athletic Trainer on staff to handle athletic injuries and assist the nurse. Within 3 miles of camp there is a full medical facility, Tappahannock Regional Medical Hospital.
Will someone be there to handle the distribution of Medication? Yes, the Registered Nurse will maintain and distribute all medications for campers during the week. The nurse will maintain a check list where she can make sure each child needing medication receives it on time.
Will my child need additional money during the week? No, your child will not need extra money, however each evening there will be a snack shop available for your child to purchase drinks or snacks for consumption during social activities and free time. In addition there will be a Pizza Night Wednesday night in which the campers will have the option to team up and purchase pizza and drink.
Will there be social time and activities for my child? Yes,there will be free time for your child to socialize during the day, and each evening there will be a social activity.
